I think I made up my mind
by paradiseseeker ina month ago i travelled alone to italy for three days and i had the opportunity to visit the beautiful florence and re-visit many parts of rome.. but most importantly, i had the opportunity to stay alone and think about my situation and to make up my mind.. i've had very clear for almost 5 years that i will eventually leave the religion, but i couldn't decide when.. but now i know : i will leave on april 20th, the day after the memorial.. that day i will talk to my parents (this is by far the hardest thing to do) and soon afterwards i will talk to my closest friends, then i will send my disassociation letter.
i know that i will let them down, i will hurt them, most probably some of them will cry... but i need to live coherently for the first time in my life.
i'm sure that living in this contradiction is affecting and will affect my mental health and it's time for me to help myself instead of others.

That was one of my big bug bears - the orgs reputation was paramount and was more important than everything else.
Is there a good source to look at regarding the Australian commission?slimboyfat - ok - the actual facts regarding Anniesland are -
Anniesland cong are now "sharing" Kelvin kingdom hall in Maryhill. (Not merging)
Anniesland hall is being sold.
Plan is for new hall to be built at Kelvin in about 2 years or so. -

Slim - let me ask about that. People use words like merge / dsiband etc but not clear on what they mean.
Will come back once I know for sure. -

I believe an intelligence is responsible for us being here. I do not attend church and am not inclined to do so.
There is still a "spiritual" part inside me... somewhere. -

Just to confirm - my sister attends Anniesland and they were told 3 weeks ago they are merging with Kelvin.
Anniesland split about 25 years ago and resulted in Kelvin being created - so this reverses that... -

SKE, and other acronymic crap
by MTSman inso, i was sort of forced to spend time with my uber-in parents.
they went on gushing about the website, and the new business cards they have to give out to busy people.

Phizzy - "they already told the Sheeple not to think for themselves in the September 2007 Kingdom Ministry."
I think that KM article was the last talk I gave as an Elder, in fact last talk ever. (Question box about doing your own research on the NWT?) I already knew by this point that I was resigning as an elder and gong to initiate a fade. But that talk was hard to give knowing it was all BS.
One of the elders came up to me after that meeting and said that I did not seem fired up about the article - little did he know. -

Interesting stuff. I think the key line is "such adjustments will result in conserving donated funds".
I suppose it is the same approach as any business - save ££$$ where possible.Regarding Anniesland congregation - I have discovered that it is merging with Kelvin congregation, which is a reversal of the split they did about 25 years ago.

Also - do they still study the Watchtower? If so I take it these articles are online or something now that less copies of the watchtower are printed?
Like I said above I see the cart witnessing nearly every week. Is that any publisher or just pioneers that do that? Either way the folks I see doing it look miserable and bored.

WOW stop the press. (literally :) )
"they have gone from 24 awakes and watchtowers per year down to 6"You say what?
6 issues for a whole year? Jeez that is a huge cut...
"they have stopped printing in the uk totally"Really? What do they do at UK bethel these days then?
What is the new mergers policy?
Sorry guys - lots of questions :) - seems like a lot of cuts across the board though.
